Covid-19: country reports 37 more cases and the death of a Portuguese citizen

Health authorities this Sunday reported 37 more cases of covid-19, as well as one death, concerning a 60-year-old Portuguese citizen.

According to the epidemiological bulletin of the National Directorate of Public Health, 34 cases were registered in Luanda and three in Zaire, with ages between 4 and 69 years, 28 males and nine females.

In the last 24 hours, the death of a 60-year-old Portuguese man was registered and five other people recovered from the disease, in Luanda.

The laboratories processed 857 samples by RT-PCR, in a cumulative total of 419,099 samples, with a positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

Angola totals 21,733 cases since the start of the pandemic, of which 20,073 have recovered, 1133 are active (including nine critical and 13 severe), and 527 have died.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,710,382 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 122.7 million cases of infection, according to an assessment made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
