Pandemic has claimed 327 more deaths in Africa in the last 24 hours

An additional 327 deaths from covid-19 have been reported in the past 24 hours in Africa, which now totals 108,391 fatalities since the start of the pandemic and 4,051,362 infected, plus 9527, according to official data.

According to the African Union's Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), the total number of recovered people in the organization's 55 member states is 3,641,349, plus 11,289 in the last 24 hours, a higher number than the new ones. infections (9527) in this region.

Southern Africa continues to be the most affected region, with 1,876,248 infected and 58,469 killed by contagion with the disease. In this region, South Africa, the country hardest hit by the covid-19 on the continent, records 1,530,966 cases and 51,560 deaths.

North Africa is the second most affected area by the pandemic, with 1,204,588 infected and 34,454 fatalities.

East Africa accounts for 443,556 infections and 8162 deaths, while in West Africa the number of infections is 414,056 and that of deaths is 5410. Central Africa has 112,914 cases and 1896 deaths.

Egypt, which is the second African country with the most fatalities, after South Africa, has 11,384 deaths and 192,195 infected, followed by Morocco, with 8737 deaths and 489,622 cases.

Among the countries most affected are also Tunisia, with 8429 deaths and 242,673 cases, Algeria, with 3047 deaths and 115,488 infected, and Ethiopia, with 2573 fatalities and 178,108 infections.

Regarding Portuguese-speaking countries, Mozambique recorded 732 deaths and 64,929 cases, followed by Angola (522 deaths and 21,446 cases of infection), Cape Verde (157 deaths and 16,154 cases), Equatorial Guinea (100 deaths and 6603 cases) , Guinea-Bissau (52 deaths and 3469 cases) and São Tomé and Príncipe (32 deaths and 2085 cases).
