Covid-19: Angola registers 27 new infections and 98 recovered in the last 24 hours

Angola has registered 27 new cases of infection with the new coronavirus and has recovered 98 patients, with no deaths since Sunday, now totaling 21,407 infections, 521 deaths and 19,948 recovered, informed the Secretary of State for Public Health.

Franco Mufinda, who was assessing the situation of covid-19 in the country in the last 24 hours, said that of the 27 registered cases, aged between 2 and 63 years, 20 were registered in Luanda, two in Cabinda, one in Huambo, and the same number in Huíla, Lunda Sul, Malanje and Zaire, being 17 males and 10 females.

In the last 24 hours, no deaths were reported, and the authorities discharged 98 people, all in Luanda, aged between 6 months and 83 years.

The official stressed that at this time the country has registered 938 active cases, of which five are in critical condition, 12 serious, 35 moderate, 33 mild and 853 asymptomatic, with 85 people in hospital.

Regarding laboratory tests, 817 samples were processed in the reference period, of which 27 were positive, giving a daily positivity rate of 3.3 percent, while the cumulative points to 411,949 samples processed to date, of which 21,407 were positive, with a rate cumulative positivity ratio of 5.2 percent.

There are 106 people in institutional quarantine and 1425 contacts are under epidemiological surveillance.

Since March 2, 44,632 people have been vaccinated against covid-19 to date, with Franco Mufinda reaffirming that the Astrazeneca vaccine is safe and effective, noting the expected side effects, namely mild headache, heavy arm and a slight fever.

"To appeal once again to our population for adherence and health professionals and the elderly over 65 years of age, who have not yet been immunized to look for services, which are still in the Complexo Paz Flor, in Morro Bento", urged the government official .
