Covid-19: country with 47 new cases and 84 recoveries in 24 hours

The country registered 47 new cases of covid-19 and 84 recoveries from the disease, in the last 24 hours, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, announced this Wednesday.

Of the new cases, 43 were registered in the province of Luanda, two in Benguela and two in Namibe, with ages between 2 and 69 years old, being 20 males and 27 females.

According to the health authorities, no deaths due to the disease have been registered.

Were considered recovered from the disease 84 people, 79 of them in the province of Luanda, three in Huambo and two in Benguela, aged between 1 and 75 years.

Angola now totals 21,161 cases since the pandemic began, including 516 deaths, 19,761 recoveries, and 884 active cases.

Laboratories have processed 693 samples, out of a total of 404,657 samples taken with a cumulative positivity rate of 5.2 percent.

Since the start of the immunization campaign on March 2, 19,076 people have been vaccinated and 7341 were vaccinated during this Wednesday.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,611,162 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 117.5 million cases of infection, according to an assessment by the French agency AFP.

According to the most recent data from the African Union Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), the number of infected people on this continent since the beginning of the pandemic is over 3.97 million and the number of deaths over 106,000.

The disease is transmitted by a coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
