Covid-19: country registers 22 infected and one dead in the last 24 hours

The country registered, in the last 24 hours, 22 new infections, one death and ten recovered people, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, informed this Monday.

According to the governor, the cases were registered in the provinces of Luanda, with seven cases, and Benguela, with two cases, with ages ranging from two to 75 years, 13 men and nine women.

Franco Mufinda stressed that the death was registered in Benguela, a 62-year-old man.

The data underline that ten people were recovered, seven of them in Benguela and three in Luanda, aged between 18 and 66.

"We have for now, a total of 21.108 cases, of which 19.657 recovered, 515 deaths and 936 active cases", said the governor, stressing that, of the active cases, three are critical, eight serious, 35 moderate, 17 light and 873 asymptomatic.

In the last 24 hours, 485 samples were processed, with 22 positive, giving a daily positivity rate of 4.5 percent, while the cumulative points to 403,426 samples processed to date, of which 21,108 were positive, with a cumulative rate of positivity of 5.2 percent.

At this time, 63 people are hospitalized, 41 are being followed in institutional quarantine, and 1396 are under epidemiological surveillance.

The covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 2,593,872 deaths worldwide, resulting from more than 116.7 million cases of infection, according to an assessment made by the French agency AFP.

The disease is transmitted by a new coronavirus detected in late December 2019 in Wuhan, a city in central China.
