Bus driver detained charging passengers to escape covid-19 test

The police arrested a bus driver who charged passengers 23,000 kwanzas to cross the sanitary fence that borders Luanda, escaping the covid-19 test, it was announced.

The information was provided by Nestor Goubel, from the Luanda provincial command, according to which the driver was arrested last Thursday, at the border post of the Longa River, between the province of Luanda and that of Cuanza Sul, after a complaint anonymous.

Luanda has been under a health fence since last year, due to the covid-19 pandemic, and it is mandatory to present a serological test with a negative result for interprovincial circulation.

The man made the interprovincial route between Huambo-Luanda, Huíla-Luanda, Benguela-Luanda, "introducing passengers without the covid-19 test", according to Nestor Goubel.

The 44-year-old man charged 23,000 kwanzas to passengers for interprovincial transportation and, when he reached about 100 meters from the barrier that delimits the sanitary fence, ordered the travelers to descend.

The bus passed by the barrier empty, deceiving the authorities, and the passengers climbed back into the vehicle a few meters later.

At the time the man was arrested, 28 passengers traveling on the bus were counted, who were then subjected to tests by the covid-19 at the test post of the commune of Cabo Ledo.
The car was also apprehended, said the police official.
