Fernando Quental died. Minister of Culture says he is "deeply dismayed"

The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment, Jomo Fortunato, was "deeply dismayed" by the death of singer, songwriter and guitarist Fernando Quental, victim of illness, on Sunday, in Lisbon.

:

Fernando Quental was the author of several themes that marked the Angolan musical contemporaneity of the 1990s, highlighting, among others, "When I went to Benguela", "Kandengue" and "Som da banda", according to a condolence note from the Ministry of Culture , Tourism and Environment (MCTA).

Born in the province of Cunene, the singer, also known as Nando Quental started his musical career in Huíla, in the group "Shallon".

In 1976 he left for Portugal and founded, in 1979, the group "Kizomba", having integrated other groups, with emphasis on "África Tentação" and "Kanawa", the latter with the singer and composer, Eduardo Paim.

Fernando Quental also participated in the projects "Sem Kigila" and "Pikante", and recorded, in 1999, his solo album "Kassula lami".

"In this hour of pain and sadness, in his own name and that of all employees and collaborators of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment, Jomo Fortunato presents his grieving feelings to the bereaved family", reads the note from the MCTA .
