Authorities call for solidarity support to help those most in need

The Government is providing a bank account from Monday to collect contributions from citizens and collective entities in order to "mitigate the need" of the most vulnerable population due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

:

"Help us to help. All together in the fight against Covid-19. You can do your part by contributing in kwanzas to the IBAN AO06 005 0000 5197 1631 1019 7 - of the Ministry of Finance - National Treasury, Government of Angola", reads the message sent this Monday to mobile users.

A source told Lusa that the initiative is part of the Solidarity Campaign Together for Angola, launched last Friday, with the aim of helping those most in need, especially during the period of emergency, which enters this Monday for the fourth day.

In advertising campaigns in the media, the authorities call for the solidarity of Angolans "at this difficult time for humanity".

Angola has already registered two deaths of people infected by Covid-19 out of a total of seven positive cases, as Health Minister Silvia Lutucuta announced on Sunday.

The country has been living since Friday in an extendable state of emergency, which lasts until 11 April, with bans on people and vehicles on public roads, in agglomerations and specific hours for food sales, among the measures.

In Angola 1,089 people are in institutional quarantine and a few dozen are serving forty households.
