Portuguese in Angola who want to return should ask for support by March 21

Portuguese people who are temporarily in Angola, as tourists and businessmen, or sick with serious needs, who need support to return to Portugal should express this intention through the e-mail address regressoaportugalao@gmail.com.

:

Angola closed its land, sea and air borders to the movement of people at midnight this Friday, suspending all commercial and private passenger flights for a period of 15 days to prevent the spread of Covid-19 disease.

The pandemic has led several countries to adopt exceptional measures, including the quarantine regime and the closure of borders, which has left several Portuguese citizens in a vulnerable situation around the world, forcing Portugal to make a survey of the needs of the Portuguese who need support to return.

In the information disclosed through its website, the Consulate General of Portugal in Luanda appeals to Portuguese citizens in a transitory situation (tourists, businessmen or other situations), as well as patients with duly proven very serious needs and other humanitarian situations to indicate the need for withdrawal, by 21 March, via e-mail regressoaportugalao@gmail.com.

The citizens should indicate their full name, passport data, updated contact address in Portugal and a brief description of the situation in which they find themselves, duly proven.

The consulate also warns of the need for resident citizens to be registered at the consular post and keep contacts updated, and consular registrations can be made via email consulado.luanda@mne.pt, exceptionally, due to the pandemic.

The application must be accompanied by a copy of the ID card or Citizen's Card, photocopy of the Passport, copy of an updated passport photo and completed form with updated contacts / address.

These consular registrations will be provisional and valid for three months, which may be extended depending on the evolution of the pandemic.

Due to the epidemiological situation, access to the Consulate General will be limited to people by appointment and the visa procedure will be limited to duly proven cases of extreme urgency (deaths, health, family members of EU citizens).

The Portuguese authorities will accept the display of documents whose validity expires during the period of validity of the exceptional measures to combat Covid-19 and the previous or subsequent fifteen days.
