Tighten the siege on Isabel dos Santos. Portuguese judge orders seizure of assets of businesswoman

Accused of damaging management and tax evasion, Isabel dos Santos will now see all her assets forfeited in Portugal by decision of Judge Carlos Alexandre.

:

The seizure was determined as part of the process taking place in Angola and involves the alleged transfer of 115 million dollars from oil company Sonangol, ordered by the daughter of former President José Eduardo dos Santos.

The news is advanced by the Portuguese newspaper ‘i’, which cites the Criminal Instruction Court. This body initially opted for the freezing of the businesswoman's assets. However, and taking into account the initial request for seizure of assets by the Angolan authorities, this ended up materializing.

The decision was taken in compliance with a judgment of the Lisbon relationship.

The attachment concerns all of Isabel dos Santos' assets in Portugal, from houses to companies like Efacec.

Carlos Costa, governor of Banco de Portugal, later admitted that judicial authorities could seize the money that results from the sale of Isabel dos Santos' stake in EuroBic's capital.

Isabel dos Santos was constituted defendant in Angola following the revelations of ‘Luanda Leaks’. The businesswoman is accused of maintaining financial schemes, together with her husband and other entities, which will have allowed usurpation of public money, placed in tax havens. The journalistic investigation revealed the former President's daughter's intentions to divert more than $ 100 million from Sonangol to Dubai.

In total, the national authorities intend to recover more than 1 billion dollars.
