As indicated by the fire department at the G1 news portal, the young Angolan, who was an exchange student at the University of São Paulo (USP), went to the Mafra waterfall, in the municipality of Pirassununga, with a friend.

Witnesses on the spot said that after the student entered the water, he began to sink. Despite rescue attempts, the Angolan was no longer visible and his body was found only a few hours later by the firefighters' diving team.

The body of the student, who was a graduate student at the Faculty of Zootechny and Food Engineering at USP, was sent to the Instituto Médico Legal de Limeira, also in São Paulo.

According to G1, the Angolan was also a student at an Italian university.

USP indicated to the press to be "in contact with the family of the student, with the Angolan Consulate in Brazil and with all the superior organs of the University of São Paulo, and that all the necessary steps are being taken".
