Lusa, who tried to contact Abel Chivukuvuku, confirmed with two sources that the quarantine will be done at home.

Abel Chivukuvuku was until February last year the leader of Convergência Ampla de Salação de Angola - Coigação Eleitoral (CASA-CE), the second largest force in the Angolan opposition.

On Tuesday, Angola announced it would extend the quarantine, for a minimum period of 14 days, already imposed on travellers from China, South Korea, Iran, Italy and "all national or resident citizens, who at any time during this pandemic have been in countries with community transmission," including Portugal, Spain and France on the list.

According to the communiqué issued at the time by the Interministerial Commission for the Response to the Coronavirus Pandemic, visits to the citizens covered by the decision will be prohibited as long as they remain in the quarantine areas, and public access to these areas will also be prohibited.

The National Health Director, Helga Freitas, confirmed the same day in an interview with the TPA that the quarantine would have to be carried out in the centres set up for this purpose.

The Lusa agency questioned the Angolan authorities about whether the quarantine of passengers could be carried out at home, but they referred the clarifications to the press conference that will take place this Wednesday afternoon.
