According to a statement from the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas (Mirempet), to which VerAngola had access, the project took 18 months to complete and cost more than 1 million dollars, whose project was designed by the company Octomec, built by Costangol and supervised by Nattier.
The project "has 12 classrooms, a computer room, a sewing workshop, a library, a laboratory, a multipurpose field and a canteen", says the note, adding that "the unit will house 1120 students each school year, distributed across 2 shifts".
"The complex requested by the Diocese of Caxito was built in the municipality of Panguila, as part of the execution of the social responsibility project portfolio of Block 48", informs the guardianship.
Valued at a total of 1,101,752 dollars, the project "received funding from ANPG, Sonangol, Total Energy and Qatar Petroleum", and is a "missionary school model, which will primarily welcome children and young people from the community".
The institute is suitable to "function as a technical institute", and courses related to the area of Administration and General Services will be given here, namely Statistics and Planning, Accounting and Management, Human Resources Management and Business Management.
Speaking as part of the inauguration, the Secretary of State expressed satisfaction with the project.
"The country's development depends on education and, therefore, Mirempet guided ANPG's actions within the scope of the Block 48 responsibility policy, so that, together with the communities, the technical-professional capacity of their populations is strengthened", highlighted José Barroso.
"We have a country with immense potential and resources. We have an abundance of land, water, minerals, combined with a wealth of fauna and flora, but also, and most importantly, we are blessed with a very generous people. And the people of this region deserve all our attention. And they deserve that the result of these resources be transformed into concrete support, such as education, a pillar on which Angola's development and sustainability surely depend. That is why we are pleased to be here and to see that the national concessionaire has been following the Ministry's guidelines in this area, duly supported by our partners in the oil sector", said the person in charge, quoted in a note from ANPG, sent to VerAngola.
In turn, the governor of Bengo, Antónia Nelumba, called for the preservation of the equipment.
"We challenge the Provincial Education Office to provide permanent supervision and make this establishment a reference in the context of technical and professional education in our province," she added.
"We are expanding the network of educational institutions that will allow us to mass-produce technical and professional education, and fill a gap in this part of our territory, recently elevated to the category of municipality. The quality of education continues to be one of our greatest challenges, due to its transversal nature, which is why it requires the participation and involvement of everyone, as this inauguration so clearly demonstrates, as well as the four educational institutions opened previously with the support of the national oil sector in the province of Bengo, and for which we are very grateful", said, quoted in the ANPG note.
While representing the Catholic Church, Imaculada Cassembe, "thanked on behalf of all the residents of the community", having taken the opportunity to ask "the project's financier and its partners to build 12 more classrooms and equipped laboratories, considering the population density of this municipality and beyond".
