One minute after the opening whistle of the match, which took place at the 22 de Junho Stadium, Arminda Lopes opened the scoring.

However, Angola's advantage did not last until half-time, with Zimbabwe equalising in the 16th minute through a goal from Ruvimbo.

Until half-time, neither team managed to score, with the first half ending in a draw (1-1).

In the second half, Angola managed to turn things around and regain the advantage: in the 74th minute, Arminda Lopes scored twice, putting the team ahead on the scoreboard.

Until the end of the match the score remained unchanged, with Angola winning 2-1.

With this victory, the team heads into the return game with an advantage. This second game takes place next Wednesday in South Africa, Zimbabwe's borrowed home.

Angola is fighting for its third participation in this continental competition, after having been present in the 1995 and 2002 competitions, says Angop.
