In a statement, the Government says that the National Employment Observatory (ONE) is a technical support body of the Ministry of Public Administration, Labor and Social Security, aimed at promoting knowledge about the labor market and labor and similar legislation.
This aims to be the main promoter of knowledge about the labor market, through its repository that "regularly aggregates and harmonizes estimates, administrative data, studies and research on the labor market".
The Observatory's responsibilities include obtaining and making available information on the demand and supply of employment and trends in the labor market, identifying the economic potential of each province that generates employment, analyzing imbalances in the labor market due to internal and external shocks, promoting the dissemination of statistical indicators of the national and international market, and conducting and disseminating studies, research and diagnoses on the labor market.
In addition to these duties, the Observatory must hold public sessions to encourage debate among institutions, socio-professional agents, civil society organizations and academics, recommend to the National Labor Directorate (DNT) the best policies for promoting employment, keep the National Classifier of Professions updated and cooperate at national and international level with public and private entities in actions and projects.
ONE is made up of a coordination team (linked to the National Labor Directorate), Technical Council, Executive Secretariat and Service Providers.
