After discovery, the bones, which were buried in a mass grave, were taken to Luanda for DNA testing.

According to Israel Nambi, spokesperson for CIVICOP, the remains will be handed over to the families of those generals in the coming days.

"In the coming days, CIVICOP will proceed with the delivery to the families of the remains of UNITA general officers, who were also victims of political conflicts," he said, in statements to Angolan Public Television (TPA).

CIVICOP has already started contacting families so that funerals can be arranged.

But who were these three generals? According to TPA, 'Bock' was a four-star general in the former FALA. He died at the age of 46, allegedly executed by his comrades after losing control of Bié to the FAA. Antero Vieira was a three-star general who died at the age of 45. His death was also caused by his comrades, after seeing his uncle 'Bock' being killed.

As for Assobio da Bala, little is known. The causes of death of this three-star general are unknown.

According to TPA, after Bié, CIVCOP also worked in Huambo, where the remains of 153 victims were discovered.
