Speaking on Wednesday, after a visit to verify the operation of the main infrastructures of the sector he manages in that province, Baptista Borges said that the "project will be complemented with the construction of a 60 kilovolt (Kv) energy transmission line".

According to a government statement, to which VerAngola had access, "to reinforce production capacity and ensure greater stability and availability of electricity in the northernmost region of the country, the government approved the project to build an underwater transmission line between Soyo and Cabinda, with an extension of 120 kilometers, which will allow the integration of the province into the National Electricity Grid".

During his working day, the Minister of Energy and Water visited the Malembo Thermal Power Plant, "the largest source of electricity production in the province, with an installed capacity of 145 MW", having announced that "the review of turbine number one and the recovery of turbine four, scheduled for the second week of March, with the aim of reducing the current restrictions of 20 MW", will soon be carried out.

The minister also discussed the installation of a new turbine, number six, which will increase the "generation capacity of the plant by 25 MW, an essential measure to improve the availability of energy in the province".

In the field of water, the governor noted the Sassa Zau Water Treatment Plant (ETA), which is located in Malembo and which "supplies around 630 thousand inhabitants in the municipalities of Cabinda and Cacongo".

On the occasion, he highlighted that the "infrastructure is ready to expand its capacity, meeting the population growth, and guaranteed the existence of a partnership with the World Bank for the expansion of the supply network in Cabinda and Vila de Lândana".

"In the municipality of Buco-Zau, the minister learned about the rehabilitation process of the Fortaleza Water System and the expansion of the supply network in Belize," says the note.

In the same municipality, it also noted the "need for electricity and instructed ENDE to act quickly to regularize the electricity situation, in order to guarantee the execution of the installations and meet the demand for water services".

Despite this situation, the governor assured that Cabinda is "in good condition in terms of water supply, an opinion also reinforced by the provincial governor, Suzana de Abreu".

"For João Baptista Borges, the visit reaffirms the Government's commitment to improving essential electricity and water supply services, to promote the transformation of the energy and water reality of the province of Cabinda and contribute to its development", the note also reads.
