According to a note from the Presidency of the Republic, to which VerAngola had access, João Lourenço arrived in the Namibian capital this Friday morning.
"The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, arrived late this Friday morning in the city of Windhoek, in the company of the First Lady, to participate in the state funeral of President Hage Gottfried Geingob, who passed away on the 4th of this month", the note reads.
The funeral ceremonies will take place on Saturday and Sunday (24th and 25th February).
"Eighteen heads of state must converge in the Namibian capital to say goodbye to President Hage Geingob, as well as delegations at another level from different countries around the world", the statement also states.
It is recalled that, when the news broke about the death of the Namibian president, President João Lourenço lamented the death of Hage Geingob. "We have lost a unique figure in the contemporary history of the Namibian people, who leaves a void that is difficult to fill," he said at the time.
