PR in the Czech Republic: “We have the political will to develop our cooperation much further”

The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, said there is “political will to develop much more” cooperation between Angola and the Czech Republic, stating that it is necessary to “go from intentions to practice”.

Speaking as part of a meeting with the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, the head of state said that "time is pressing and our people are eager to feel the benefits of the friendship that connects us".

"We have the political will to develop our cooperation much further. What we need is to move from intentions to practice", he added, quoted in a note from CIPRA, to which VerAngola had access.

According to the note, the audience with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic "maintained the line of previous meetings" - with the Czech President, Petr Pavel, and officials from the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies, with "the need to deepen and expand bilateral cooperation, to the benefit of both peoples".

"Seventeen million dollars from the flow of our commercial cooperation is something that we could improve", said Petr Fiala, referring to the "current state of the connection" between the two countries.

In addition to the meeting with the Czech Prime Minister, João Lourenço's agenda was also filled with a visit from the Senate of the Czech Republic, where "a working lunch took place during which the interest in strengthening cooperation between the two States in different areas, including strengthening relations with the National Assembly of the Republic of Angola".

After the visit to the Senate, where the head of state "held an extensive conversation with the President of the body, Milos Vistrcil", João Lourenço went to the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic.

"Also here, Czech deputies expressed their keen interest in seeing Angola and the Czech Republic begin a new and more intense cycle of cooperation, which could include sectors such as industry, the production of medicines and vaccines, the recovery and modernization of technical military, pilot training, higher education, agriculture, transport and others", reads another note from CIPRA.

The working day ended with a dinner hosted by the Czech president. "The President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, was honored this Wednesday night in Prague with a gala dinner, on the occasion of his official visit to the Czech Republic", said a statement from CIPRA.

The dinner took place at Prague Castle, where official talks between the delegations from Angola and the Czech Republic took place on Wednesday morning.

"The first ladies of Angola and the Czech Republic, the delegations accompanying the two heads of state and several guests participated in the dinner, including members of the Angolan community residing in this country", the note also reads.
