It was through a publication on his Facebook page that the head of state considered that relations with that European country "go back decades, with appreciable results".

"Our relations with the Czech Republic date back decades, with appreciable results for both parties", reads the publication, published this Wednesday.

"We are determined to make our partnership even better and adjusted to the context", he said, adding: "Therefore, today will be a memorable day for both peoples, as we place another stone in our cooperation".

On Tuesday, the head of state also took to his Facebook page to talk about his trip to the Czech Republic.

"In the search for partnerships for the growth of our economy, the Czech Republic is a strong ally to take into account. That is why my first trip to this Eastern European country, with a thriving economy, aims to reinforce cooperation with a State with which Angola maintains historical ties", reads another publication.

In turn, Téte António, Minister of Foreign Affairs, who is also in Prague to join the Angolan delegation, said that the two countries have maintained cooperation since 1993 and that a new era was needed.

Quoted by Angop, the minister made it known that Angola and the Czech Republic will initial a memorandum on political consultations, which will allow for the recognition and establishment of the new panorama of cooperation, whose attention will be focused on the areas of agriculture, health and education.

"We formalized an agreement on diplomatic relations with the Czech Republic. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, there was a geopolitical reconfiguration in this region, which is the Czech Republic, and, being the Czech Republic, in 1993 we signed an agreement that formalized diplomatic relations. But, since 1993 until now, we must consider that cooperation with the Czech Republic has not reached the levels it should have", said Téte António.

"We want to relaunch this relationship with the Czech Republic, above all to give more substance to economic cooperation", he added, quoted by Angop.
