Rui Falcão, who until last week was secretary of the Political Bureau for Information and Propaganda of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), was linked to the sports sector, holding leadership positions.
The new Minister of Youth and Sports served, between 1985 and 1989, as head of the Programming and Evaluation Department of the National Directorate of Physical Culture and Recreation of the State Secretariat for Physical Education and Sports and, between 1989 and 1992, as national director of Culture, Physics and Recreation, at the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
From 2008 to 2012, Rui Falcão was also president of the Angolan Handball Federation.
