The railway line, with more than 700 kilometres, crosses Angola starting in the province of Namibe (west) to Moxico (east), through the province of Huíla (south).
According to the presidential order consulted by Lusa, the tender will be open to national and foreign entities, with the Ministry of Transport being responsible for acts related to the tender procedure, without adding further details.
The presidential dispatch mentions that boosting this railway corridor is a priority for the executive, with a view to boosting exports of ores and ornamental stones, improving trade flows and reducing the isolation of the provinces it serves.
Last November, an agreement was formalized which attributes to the consortium formed by the companies Trafigura, Vecturis and Mota-Engil the management of the Lobito Railway Corridor, with more than 1300 kilometres, for a period of 30 years.
