Angola adds second consecutive victory in the women's Afrobasket 2023 zone

After starting with the 'left foot' in the race for the women's Afrobasket 2023, the national women's basketball team added, this Thursday, its second consecutive victory in the competition's qualification zone.

In this Thursday's game, Angola faced its counterpart from Zambia, which it won with a difference of 31 points (92-61).

According to a note from the Angolan Basketball Federation, which VerAngola had access to, Cristina Matiquite was in the spotlight in the match, with 23 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

Still on the national side, the athletes Sara Caetano (17 points, four rebounds, two assists and five steals), Italee Lucas (12 points, three rebounds, four assists and two steals) and Nadir Manuel (11 points, four rebounds, two steals and two shooting tackles).

For Zambia, the highlight fell on Priscilla Chella, with 24 points, and Tendai Chuma Zika, with 18 points.

The debut of the national team in the competition took place on Tuesday, where it lost to Mozambique. However, Angola redeemed itself in the second game, played on Wednesday against Zimbabwe, which it won by 105-41.

After all, with the victory in this Thursday's game, the national team adds a defeat and two consecutive victories.

For this Friday, counting for the second round of the event, Angola will meet Zambia again. On Saturday and Sunday, the national team will play again with Zimbabwe and Mozambique, respectively.
