Angola and Morocco boost parliamentary cooperation

With the aim of strengthening cooperation ties between Angola and Morocco, the country's ambassador, Saadia El Alaoui, was this Thursday at the National Assembly Palace, where she held a courtesy meeting with Carolina Cerqueira, with whom she analyzed the matter.

:

"It is in our interest to take significant steps forward in parliamentary diplomacy between the two countries. We think that there is also an interest on the Angolan side in cooperating in this field", said the Moroccan diplomat, in a statement made available to VerAngola.

It should be recalled that, within the scope of bilateral cooperation, Angola and Morocco signed, in October 1988, the General Agreement on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation, which allowed the holding of the first Session of the Angolan-Moroccan Joint Bilateral Commission, in Rabat, in October 1989. The second meeting of the Joint Bilateral Commission between the two countries took place in November 2013, in Luanda.

The two countries cooperate in the areas of education, agriculture, trade, among others.

Africa Parliamentary Networks meeting in Gabon

Also present at the National Assembly was the Ambassador of Gabon accredited to Angola, Guy Wezetyem, who discussed with Carolina Cerqueira matters relating to parliamentary diplomacy.

Speaking to the press, the Gabonese diplomat announced the holding of the Meeting of Parliamentary Networks of Africa, in which Angola is expected to participate.

He also referred to the country's support for Angola's candidacy to host the 147th Assembly of the Interparliamentary Union, to be held in Luanda, next October.

It should be noted that Angola and Gabon have had political-diplomatic relations established since 1975, having signed the General Cooperation Agreement and the Bilateral Commission Agreement on 15 January 1982, in Libreville.

They cooperate in the sectors of agriculture, oil and mining, maritime transport, industry, education, culture, commerce, health, youth and sport.
