The information was transmitted to Lusa by the spokesperson of the V Congress of the Revolutionary United Youth of Angola (JURA), Elsa Pataco, noting that the decision came out of the meeting that the conclave mandates commission held on Sunday.
"Only two candidates were qualified, namely Nelito Ekukui and João Lukombo, because they did meet the required requirements and showed irreproachable conduct and that's why they passed", explained the official.
Nelito Ekuikui, Domingos Palanga, Sebastião Salakiaku, Roberto Gamba, Hilário Marques and João Lukombo were the six pre-candidates for the position of general secretary of JURA, as the chairman of the mandates commission told Lusa last Friday, Adelino Ricardo.
The phase of receiving complaints and checking for insufficiencies took place on Friday and Saturday.
This Monday, Elsa Pataco reported that pre-candidates Domingos Palanga and Hilário Marques were removed from the race “for not having completed 10 years of militancy”, as stated in the JURA statutes, approved by the national committee of the political organization.
“The declaration of militancy is passed by the base structures of the JURA and these did not have that period of militancy as required”, she stressed.
“Moral damage and defamation of party leaders” weighed in the removal of pre-candidates Sebastião Salakiaku and Roberto Gamba, justified Elsa Pataco.
The V Ordinary Congress for the renewal of mandates in the governing bodies of the youth organization of the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) takes place from 15 to 17 March.
The electoral campaign for the position of secretary general of JURA is already underway and will run until 13 March.
Agostinho Kamuango, outgoing general secretary, did not run for office again.
