Presidents of CAR and Chad in Luanda for tripartite summit

The Presidents of Chad and the Central African Republic (CAR) traveled to Angola to participate in the Angola-CAR-Chad Tripartite Summit. The president of the Transitional Military Council of the Republic of Chad and acting president of the Community of Sahael/Sahara States (CEN-SAD), Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno, arrived in Angola on Wednesday, while the arrival of the CAR president, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, took place this Thursday.


According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which VerAngola had access to, Mahamat Idriss Déby Itno was in Luanda at the invitation of João Lourenço, President of the Republic and Champion of the African Union for Peace and Reconciliation in Africa, with the aim of participating, this Thursday, at the summit.

The official – who arrived on Wednesday night – was received at the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, "who was accompanied by Manuel Homem, governor of the province of Luanda", says the statement.

The note also mentions that Miguel César Domingos Bembe, director of the Africa, Middle East and Regional Organizations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was also part of the reception committee.

For the same summit, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, president of RCA, was also expected, whose arrival took place this Thursday.

Speaking at the end of the meeting, without giving details, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António said that "the consultations took place in a very fraternal environment".

"The three heads of state, after exchanging views, decided to continue this fraternity that exists between the countries of the region, when dealing with situations in one of the countries, which in this specific case is the Central African Republic", said the head of diplomacy. angolan.

Téte António highlighted the decisive role of Angola, under the leadership of President João Lourenço, in achieving political stability in CAR.
