US underlines João Lourenço’s role in the country’s ongoing reforms

Amos Hochstein, special presidential coordinator for Global Infrastructure and Energy Security of the United States of America (USA), underlined “the role that President João Lourenço has played with regard to reforms and also the diversification of this country’s economy” .

:

"We are here, once again, because we consider the relationship with Angola to be of great importance, and mainly taking into account the role that President João Lourenço has played with regard to reforms and also the diversification of the economy of this country", said the responsible, who was speaking after an audience with the President of the Republic, which took place this Wednesday.

According to a note from CIPRA, which VerAngola had access to, the meeting also served to address issues related to relations between both countries, considered excellent, as well as to review multilateral issues.

Amos Hochstein added that they had the opportunity to analyze issues related to investments made by American companies in Angola: "We had the opportunity to discuss issues that have to do with investments, which are being made by American companies in Angola and in the region", he advanced, cited in the statement.

The official also "praised Angola's economic potential and stated that the energy transition that the world is experiencing is also an opportunity for the African transition and for Angola", reads the note.

As for the US collaboration with Angola, he assured that this will continue, since it is "President Biden's wish that it be specific" in areas such as security, economy and trade, so that "through this we can develop Angola and the region".

In addition, Angola's commitment to the pacification of the Great Lakes was also noted.

"The Government of the United States of America appreciates the efforts made by President João Lourenço in relation to pacification and stability in the Great Lakes region", reads the statement.

Amos Hochstein's visit was part of the tour he is taking across the continent to consolidate decisions taken at the US-Africa Summit, which took place in December last year, in Washington.

The hearing was attended by the US Ambassador to Angola, Tulinabo S. Mushing.
