Government announces rehabilitation and privatization of Cidadela stadium

The government, through the Ministry of Youth Sports, announced this Wednesday in Luanda that it will rehabilitate the Cidadela stadium, which was banned by the African Football Confederation (CAF) for over ten years.

:

Without giving any dates, the head of the infrastructure department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Moisés Cabenda, said that the works will start later this year and that the second ring, in an advanced state of degradation, is among the priorities.

The official added that after the rehabilitation, the stadium, inaugurated in 1972 and with a capacity for 60,000 spectators, will be privatized.

CAF recently banned the 11 de Novembro stadiums in Luanda, the Chiaze stadiums in Cabinda, the Ombaka stadiums in Benguela and the Tundavala stadium in Huíla due to their poor state of conservation.
