1.º de Agosto players without wages for three months

The players of 1.º de Agosto, the second team with the most titles in national football, have been without wages for three months, admitted, in Luanda, the vice-president for football of the club, Paulo Magueijo.

At issue is the financial crisis that the club, assigned to the Angolan Armed Forces, has been experiencing for a few months, but the manager guaranteed that, soon, salaries will be paid to athletes and employees.

The revelation comes after, last weekend, the assistant coach of 1.º de Agosto, Felipe Nzanza, publicly admitted the delays, appealing to the intervention of high military ranks of the Angolan Armed Forces to solve the problem.

The Angolan coach's statements did not please the club's management, which, according to Paulo Mangueijo, was involved in an area that does not concern him.

1.º de Agosto is the second team with the most national titles in Angolan football, with a total of 13 victories, and is also the most eclectic club in Africa, with 16 sports.

Petro de Luanda is the most titled team, with 15.

In the national football championship, the team occupies the third position, with 38 points, 10 less than the leader Petro de Luanda.
