"Unfortunately, during the period in question, the country recorded a significant increase in accidents, injuries and deaths", refers in the Public Security Report, in the period between the 11th and 17th of the current month.
In the previous week, the country recorded 53 deaths and 238 injuries, in 242 road accidents.
The police document also mentions that, in the field of traffic inspection, 303 vehicles, 918 motorcycles, 996 driving licenses were seized and 3,560 fines were imposed.
In Angola, road accidents are the second leading cause of death in the country, after malaria.
With regard to police actions in the period under analysis, the Police highlighted the arrest of 908 suspects and the seizure of 48 firearms of different calibers.
As part of the protection of land and sea borders, the National Police carried out several actions that resulted in the arrest of 2183 citizens, of which 2129 from the Democratic Republic of Congo, accompanied by 111 children, 11 Namibians and 43 Angolans, for fuel smuggling, fishing illegal immigration, illicit trafficking of immigrants and smuggling of undeclared goods.
