University of Benguela signs partnership with MCA Group and guarantees internships for young engineers

The Katyavala Bwila University of Benguela (UKB) signed, this Wednesday, a partnership with the MCA Group that will enable around 20 engineers recently graduated from this university to start their journey in the job market.

:

"The Katyavala Bwila University of Benguela, UKB, and the MCA Group signed this Wednesday a partnership that allows two dozen engineers recently graduated from this Angolan higher education institution to start their journey in the job market, benefiting from the monitoring and guidance by professionals with extensive experience in the market, integrating multidisciplinary teams for the development of photovoltaic solar projects", can be read in a statement sent to VerAngola.

According to the note, the young engineers will be recruited for an internship program directly linked to the Solar Project that the MCA Group is running.

The partnership will last for one year and will allow "the professional integration of young graduates, for periods of six months, during which each of the trainees will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge in specific areas within the scope of solar energy and photovoltaic parks, being guided by experienced engineers, from whom they will receive essential tools and work methodologies for their future professional path".

The statement also adds that these are internships paid by the MCA Group. There will also be "regular visits by other students who attend that higher education institution and who wish to know in more detail these structures and their architecture, design and state-of-the-art technology".

Cited in the note, Elisabete Alves Miranda, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MCA Group Angola, considered that this partnership "represents, without a doubt, an added value for the professional training of these young graduates, as well as for their insertion in the market of skilled work".

"This is a firm and sustained commitment to the training of future Angolan engineers who will lead an increasingly important area in energy sustainability, photovoltaic energy - in which the MCA Group is strongly committed -, also establishing the possibility of collaboration in projects of common interest and/or joint initiatives, within the scope of the aforementioned engineering projects", said the official.

With a long presence in Angola, the MCA Group's main project is the generation of solar-based renewable energy, which "consists of the construction of seven photovoltaic parks, located in six Angolan provinces, with a total installed capacity of 370 megawatts".

"The project, which includes the largest photovoltaic park in Sub-Saharan Africa, is located in Biópio, in the province of Benguela, with an installed capacity of 188 megawatts, and overall represents an investment of over 500 million dollars, producing electricity for supply a population of 2.4 million people", the note adds.

In addition to Benguela, the project also provides for the construction of photovoltaic parks in Huambo, Moxico, Luanda Sul, Lunda Norte and Bié, with "their completion in stages, with the first operational parks at the end of the first half of 2022".
