The proposal aims to make changes in some guidelines of the Criminal Procedure Code, approved by Law n.º 39/20, of 11 November, writes Angop.
Although the code has been in force for a short time, the Government has already identified some gaps that, in its view, should be rectified, with a view to speeding up justice and ensuring, more effectively, the rights of defendants and victims.
David Mendes, quoted by Angop, considered that the application in practice showed that some concepts that were misused no longer perform the desired function in the code.
The deputy also mentioned that it is not easy to agree that in less than a year the document will be amended, which leads him to ask why the speed for its approval, at a time when there were issues that, in his view, could be examined , writes to Angop.
In turn, João Pinto, MPLA deputy, classified the initiative as courageous and convenient, since it protects the basic rights of citizens.
