Head of the Military House highlights the work of officers sworn in in “frenetic moments”

The Minister of State and head of the Military House of the President of the Republic thanked the commitment of the new generals, admirals, heads and officials of this body, while it operated with only a third of its composition.

Francisco Furtado, who was speaking during the inauguration ceremony of this new team, highlighted that the body had been operating for about seven months with a third of its composition at the head, after the dismissal of nine senior officials of the body, on suspicion of mismanagement and diversion of funds.

"These were frenetic moments, with a lot of work and commitment, for which I express my gratitude to this great team, which is joined by the new generals, admirals, chiefs and officials", he stressed.

The official considered the new team the winner, "whose merit of the action had as its main helmsman the President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, who, in such a troubled moment, knew how to put and stop the fury of the tide in which he walked".

Francisco Furtado underlined the task given to him, in June of last year, when he was sworn in as the new head of the Security House of the President of the Republic, namely "to restore the real mission of the great institution of Organs auxiliary bodies of the President of the Republic, tainted by the scandals of the so-called Major Lussaty process".

"In a mere calculating observation, nine senior officials of the Security House were exonerated and on 31 January of this year, an equal number were appointed, in a different perspective, which we believe is correct for the current context", he underlined.

The Minister of State and head of the Military House of the President of the Republic stressed that this body's tasks, in addition to organizing, in the context of national security, support humanitarian actions, such as combating the prevention of the covid-19 pandemic or the drought that is plaguing the southern region of the country.

"For many of us will have to be in these acts on a permanent basis, without discarding other responsibilities, but also not leaving for another time some actions considered fundamental in the current national and international situation", he said.

In May of last year, President João Lourenço, after dismissing the group of officers assigned to the body, involved in a crime of embezzlement and criminal association, involving millions of dollars, removed a week later, the then head of the Security and Minister of State, Pedro Sebastião.
