Angola participates in UN assembly on the environment

The country will be present at the 5th United Nations (UN) Environment Assembly and at the special session that marks the 50th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), which starts this Monday, in Naiorobi, Kenya.

At the event, the country will be represented by a delegation led by the Minister of State for the Social Area, Carolina Cerqueira.

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Paula Franciso, the ambassador and permanent representative of Angola to the UN Offices in Nairobi, Sianga Abílio, national directors and officials from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment, among others, are also part of the national delegation, writes to Angop.

It should be noted that this Monday, the minister will speak at the event.

According to Angop, on Sunday, Carolina Cerqueira led a meeting with the national delegation, aiming to examine the agenda as well as the country's position on various matters that will be debated and on the country's strategy and commitment to stimulating sustainable development.

The meeting, which will run until the 4th of March, has as its theme the "Strengthening of actions so that nature can reach the goals of sustainable development".
