Exports of oil in pipelines among the novelties of the New Customs Code

Exporting oil through pipelines, instead of ships, is one of the innovations of the draft revision of the new Customs Code. The document is in the process of receiving and evaluating contributions from private sector contributors.

In addition to this measure, there are also guarantees of compliance with a tax obligation, through the issuance of a certificate or treasury bonds, says Angop, citing a source from the customs services department of the General Tax Administration (AGT).

AGT also advanced the appearance of the Authorized Economic Operator (AEO), in order to facilitate trade, identified as another "advantage" of the new customs code.

The new procedures in the document aim to overcome the gaps in the sector and update obsolete standards, in force since 2005.

After the consultation process, the document will go to the Council of Ministers and then to the National Assembly, responsible for approving the laws.
