dstangola/Camões Literature Prize returns to help create and develop talent in writing

dstgroup has just announced the launch of the IV edition of the dstangola/Camões Literature Prize, this year dedicated to prose works by Angolan authors, published in 2020 and 2021. The initiative wants to encourage support for culture through initiatives that value and encourage artists to create and develop their talent.

The prize, which amounts to the equivalent in kwanzas of €15,000, has applications and registration open until the 16th of April, and the regulation can be consulted at http://pl.angola.dstsgps.com.

The initiative has already distinguished authors such as Pepetela, Zetho Cunha Gonçalves and Benjamim M'Bakassy, and is a joint activity of dstgroup, through its subsidiary in Angola, dstangola, and Camões – Institute for Cooperation and Language, to award, annually and alternately, books published in poetry and prose by Angolan artists. The award will be delivered in Luanda on a date to be announced.

"This award was created to encourage the creativity of authors and the growth of the Angolan cultural sector, giving it visibility and incentives so that we can all drink from this immense knowledge and grow as human beings", says José Teixeira, president of dstgroup, in statement sent to VerAngola.

The dstgroup assumes itself not only as a booster of literary creativity, but also as a patron of culture, encouraging cultural and artistic support, having even created the dstangola reading room at the Portuguese Cultural Center in Luanda, adds the document.

This room received thousands of books from dstgroup, worth more than €12,500, under the protocol signed in 2019 with Camões, for which an increase of more than €6,000 in books and equipment is planned.
