The Cathedral of Lubango, designated as Cathedral of St. Joseph, was established on July 27, 1955 as the seat of the diocese of Sá da Bandeira.
The work of architect Fernando Batalha, was later, on February 3, 1977, elevated to the archdiocese of Lubango.
Located in Lubango, Huila, the building is a symbol of the modern Gothic style.
