Speaking to Lusa agency, the person responsible for communication and marketing at CASA-CE, Cesinanda Xavier, said that the election took place at a meeting of the presidential college, which was not attended by the resignation leader, André Mendes de Carvalho "Miau".
According to Cesinanda Xavier, the abstentions came from the Democratic Bloc, chaired by Justino Pinto de Andrade, and from the Support Party for Democracy and Development of Angola - Patriotic Alliance (PADDA-AP), by Alexandre Sebastião André, parties that did not subscribe to the letter that André Mendes de Carvalho "Miau" asked to make his position available, due to alleged poor performance in the coalition, which he fulfilled last Friday.
Cesinanda Xavier said that the meeting took place without any constraint, stressing that the act of taking office is scheduled for this Friday, a ceremony that should have the presence of André Mendes de Carvalho "Miau".
For Cesinanda Xavier, the choice of Manuel Fernandes to lead the coalition was the best, pointing out the reorganization of the house as the first challenge, to put "the machine to work, to be prepared for local and general elections".
Manuel Fernandes, in declarations to the radio, said that it was "a democratic exercise", for the foreseeable future, "a dynamic CASA-CE, a CASA-CE that all the people know, one that is with the electorate and together of the citizen ".
Until last Friday, CASA-CE was led by André Mendes de Carvalho "Miau", who left office at the request of four of the six parties that make up the coalition, rejecting the arguments put forward for demanding his departure.
CASA-CE was created in 2012, having as its first leader Abel Chivukuvuku, until February 2019, when he was removed from office due to alleged lack of trust between his partners, being replaced in office by André Mendes de Carvalho "Miau", who started functions in May 2019.
