"Seven of the competing companies have been approved, three of which have already met all the requirements and are expected to receive 60 buses for their operation," said Amadeu Campos, director of the provincial office for transport, traffic and urban mobility.
According to Angop, each bus will have the capacity to carry 90 people - 50 seats and 40 standing. The vehicles will operate through an electronic ticket office - and tickets should cost around 50 kwanzas. The vehicles will also be equipped with a lift to facilitate the entry of people with wheelchairs.
Speaking to Angop, Amadeu Campos explained that in the contract made with the companies, the transport route has already been defined, adding that currently 109 routes are defined that privilege the areas with the greatest demand.
Amadeu Campos also revealed that a project has already been approved to create six new corridors dedicated only to public transport. According to the responsible, the corridors will be placed on Avenida 21 de Janeiro, Avenida Pedro de Castro Van Dúnem, de Cacuaco, Deolinda Rodrigues, Fidel Castro and Estrada da Samba.
