According to the Minister of Fisheries and the Sea, Maria Antonieta Baptista, the "conquest of the SADC region and a place of excellence in the rankings", in a vision of "growth and development", are primary goals of the institution.

The Cefopescas, an investment of 98 million dollars financed by the Government of Spain, was inaugurated this Tuesday by the President, João Lourenço.

For the governor, the infrastructure, located in the municipality of Belas, south of Luanda, with a population density of over 1.2 million inhabitants, will have a "very large social impact on the community where it is located".

The minister said that the institute aims to "become a competent authority in the average training of the sector, with national and international prestige".

According to Maria Antonieta Baptista, the institution aims to train quality staff, with the purpose of solidifying the academic career, and capable of "responding to the lack of specific technicians" for the sector.

"The mission of the Institute is to promote the fulfillment of objective number 14 of Sustainable Development, which is to conserve and use oceans, seas and fishing resources in a sustainable way", she said.
