João Lourenço inaugurates Polytechnic Institute of Fisheries

The President, João Lourenço, inaugurated this Tuesday the Polytechnic Institute of Fisheries (Cefopescas), in the municipality of Belas, Luanda.

:

Sided by the first lady of the Republic and other members of her Government, João Lourenço lowered the plaque of the institution and visited the departments of the institution that will teach high school classes from 7th to 13th grade.

The Cefopescas was built in an upper area of 5,600 square meters, is distributed over three floors and can accommodate 1836 students. In addition, the main building of the institute consists of classrooms, three laboratories, a library, an administrative area, offices for teachers and workshops. The institute also has cafeterias, 24 teacher residences and accommodation with capacity for 310 students.

Cefopescas is qualified to train students in high school, basic and professional courses.

Construction of the Cefopescas began four years ago, in 2016, and received funding of US$98 million from the Kingdom of Spain - which worked in partnership with Angola, having created 19 Angolan staff in the best nautical-fishing schools in Spain and in Cefopescas - to meet the "lack of qualified technicians" of medium level for the sector.
