More than 20 years later, Carlos Morais says ‘goodbye’ to Petro and starts wearing the Interclube shirt

After 22 years linked to Petro de Luanda, Carlos Morais left the ‘tricolores’, having been presented as the new winger for Interclube until the end of the current championship.

At the presentation ceremony, which took place this Friday, the basketball player began by thanking everyone for "all the trust" placed in him.

"I'm very happy to be here, I'm very happy to have this opportunity, to be able to contribute to something bigger than myself, which (...) is to fight for the national championship (...)," he said.

During his speech at the presentation ceremony of the new Interclube athletes, Carlos Morais also said that he accepted this challenge because he had the opportunity to fight for something bigger than himself: "I accepted this challenge precisely because I had this opportunity to fight for something that is bigger than than me".

He said he was "ready to start work and be able to contribute to the group becoming stronger and continuing to grow towards its main objective."

The winger also mentioned that "at this point (...), there is no point talking about other teams", stating that he is "100 percent focused on Inter" and on what he has to do "to help the group".

His departure from Petro de Luanda is not easily understood. According to Angop, it is officially stated that Petro de Luanda still counted on his services, while the athlete responds that he did not receive the attention from the club proportional to his achievements over more than 20 years.

At 39 years old, Carlos Morais is over 1.90m tall and, throughout his career, he has won several titles, including in Portugal, where he spent two seasons (2016/2017 and 2017/2018) playing for Benfica.

It is worth noting that Carlos Morais' departure from Petro comes after the 'tricolores' were crowned champions, last year, of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).

In addition to Carlos Morais, Interclube also welcomed Jone Pedro and Raimer Santana.

Using its Facebook page, Interclube announced the arrival of the new players: "It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the arrival of Carlos Morais and Jone Pedro to Interclube! These talented players come to reinforce our senior men's basketball team for the decisive phase of Unitel Basket", says the publication.

The club also announced the signing of Raimer Santana. "Welcome to Interclube, Raimer Santana. The athlete from the Dominican Republic is also a reinforcement for Interclube's main basketball team. The young point guard will join the group in the coming days", the emblem also says.
