In a brief publication on social media, to which VerAngola had access, the Angolan Football Federation (FAF) announced the 'trials by fire' that the 'Palancas Negras' will have to face in the competition.
"Angola in group A", announces the FAF, which says that in the same group is also one of the hosts of the competition, Kenya, as well as Morocco, DRC and Zambia.
As for the other CHAN groups – which will take place in August in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda – the draw, which took place this Wednesday in Nairobi (Kenya), placed the teams from Tanzania, Madagascar, Mauritania, Burkina Faso and the Central African Republic in group B.
Group C is, for now, made up of Uganda, Niger and Guinea, with two places still open (Q1 and Q2), which will be decided in a qualifying tournament to be held before the competition. According to a statement from CAF, to which VerAngola had access, "two teams still need to secure their places in the finals, with Algeria, Comoros, Gambia, Malawi, Egypt, South Africa and Gabon participating in a qualifying campaign to fill the places in the Qualification 1 and Qualification 2 draw".
While in group D, there are the teams from Senegal, Congo, Sudan and Nigeria.
It is worth remembering that the team qualified for CHAN 2025 after facing Lesotho last month. The 'Palancas Negras' won the first leg, played in South Africa, by 2-0, and lost the return leg, by 1-0, played in Luanda. Despite having 'slipped' at home against Lesotho, the 'Palancas Negras' managed to secure qualification for the competition.
This is the fifth time that the team will be present at CHAN, with its best performance being in 2011, in Sudan, when it obtained the title of runner-up.
