"Cagliari Calcio is pleased to announce the extension of the contract of the player Zito Luvumbo who will join the Rossoblù colors until June 30, 2028, with the right to the option for another season in favor of the club", informed the club, in statement to which VerAngola had access.
Born in 2002, in Luanda, Luvumbo arrived in Italy at the age of 18. "The Angolan international arrived on the island at just 18 years old, initially integrated into the Primavera team, with whom he played 19 games in the first season, scoring 5 goals. After a brief spell at Como, he was once again the protagonist of the Primavera 1 championship: he scored 11 goals and made a fundamental contribution to the team that came close to reaching the Scudetto final", points out Cagliari.
The following year, the Angolan made his debut for the main team, with his first goal coming on September 10, 2022, "in the away victory over Benevento (0-2)".
On May 30, 2023, the club recalls, the first game of the playoff semi-final would be played at Unipol Domus, with Cagliari having two goals less and the striker came on in the second half and turned the game around: "two goals, a penalty scored, it is the match that definitively establishes him as the protagonist of a victory that will represent a decisive step towards the immediate promotion to Serie A".
"The striker also confirms himself in the first division: last season he was among the architects of salvation with four goals and six assists", says the club, adding that this year he scored the goal against Lazio and provided the assist for the goal of Zortea in Parma's victory.
The Angolan has, to date, 93 games for the Italian club, which currently competes in Italy's Serie A, ranking in 18th place.
