According to the managing director of Chevron's Southern Africa Strategic Business Unit, Billy Lacobie, "the first gas from the Sanha Lean Gas Connection shows CABGOC's success in maximizing the value of existing resources in Block 0. Furthermore, it highlights the investment in improving local capabilities".
The document also says that "the Sanha Lean Gas Connection project intends to contribute to the supply of gas from the Sanha field of Block 0 to the Soyo and Angola LNG projects, acting as a hub, which will facilitate the commercialization of gas stored in the Sanha and continued gas exports. As a long-term partner, Chevron has 70 years of operational excellence in Angola and remains dedicated to providing reliable, affordable and low-carbon energy."
According to the company's statement, Cabinda Gulf Oil operations currently export 300 million standard cubic feet (MMSCF) per day to ALNG through the Congo River Connection Gas Pipeline (CRX). The first phase of SLGC will supply an additional 80 MMSCF per day of Sanha gas to the Angola LNG gas plant.
The next phase of the project calls for the commissioning of the Booster Compression (BC) module, which will add 220 MMSCF per day, allowing the CRX pipeline to reach its full capacity of 600 MMSCF per day.
The Sanha Lean Gas Connection (SLGC) and Booster Compression (BC) is a world-class project, built in the province of Benguela, which aims to connect to gas pipelines. The SLGC & BC will allow the commercialization of gas stored in the Sanha reservoir and will guarantee the continuity of gas exports.
This project involves the design and construction of a new platform that will be integrated with the existing Sanha facilities and the Congo River Crossing, allowing the supply of gas from the Sanha field to the Natural Gas Plant. Liquefied Angola (ALNG).
