Soda factory “will be producing” within a year and will save the State seven billion in imports

The first caustic soda, calcium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid factory in the country should be producing within a year, informed the executive director of the “Adérito Areias” group, promoter of the Salinas de Calombolo project.

According to the executive director of the "Adérito Areias" group, this factory will produce essential products for the production of soap and the preparation of drinking water, among others.

"The country imports around 650 million dollars of these products every year, so we are extremely pleased because, if everything goes well, within a year the factory will be producing", he said.

The Salinas Calombolo project "will produce three important products for public health issues, products that will help in water purification, in the cleaning industry and also in the iron industry", said the Secretary of State for Economy, Ivan dos Santos, adding that this local production will allow the State to save on imports.

"It is a good sign for our real economy and for our industry, mainly for the Salinas Calombolo project, which will produce three important products for public health issues, products that will help in water purification, in the cleaning industry and also in the iron industry", he highlighted.

According to Ivan dos Santos, in the last four years, the Government has disbursed around seven billion dollars to import the three products that the Salinas de Calombolo will now produce locally.

The person in charge – who was speaking to the press as part of the national companies Salinas de Calombolo and Alexandre's House​ will benefit from financing totaling 71.8 million euros through a credit line from Deutsche Bank, for projects to be developed in Benguela – congratulated the project promoters for the implementation of the contracts, integrated into the Deutsche Bank credit line, signed in 2019, and which faced "some constraints in carrying out the financing contracts".

Ivan dos Santos highlighted that there are already two projects underway, the sugar and oil production project of the Leonor Carrinho group, also in Benguela and with financing from Deutsche Bank.

Regarding the second project, Alexandre's House, the government official highlighted that it will help with the issue of food security, an area that the Government has encouraged producers to join and implement good practices to have access to the Deutsche Bank line.

Intermediated by the Development Bank of Angola (BDA), the Salinas de Calombolo project has financing of 24.8 million euros to put into operation, in the province of Benguela, the first caustic soda, calcium hypochlorite and acid factory. hydrochloric acid in Angola.

The Calombolo Salinas occupy approximately 5000 square meters and will generate 32 direct and permanent jobs, in addition to impacting specialized training and creating opportunities in the national job market.

The second contract signed was with the Alexandre's House project, also being implemented in Benguela, with financing of just over 47 million euros for the supply and assembly of a warehouse for receiving, freezing and processing fish in the municipality of Baia Farta.

The project foresees the creation of 203 direct and permanent jobs, in addition to boosting the fishing sector and the regional economy.
