PGR: number of attorneys is insufficient to increase requests

The Attorney General of the Republic said this Wednesday, in Luanda, that the number of magistrates remains insufficient to deal with the considerable increase, in recent years, of requests from natural and collective entities.

Hélder Pitta Grós spoke to the press at the end of the inauguration ceremony of 30 magistrates, recently appointed new members of the Board of Directors of the Attorney General's Office, distributed across the Courts of Appeal of Luanda and Benguela, for the area of inspection and holders of districts and courts in the provinces of Uíge, Bengo, Lunda Sul, Huambo and Cunene.

According to Hélder Pitta Grós, the PGR managed to awaken the population "that they have someone who can protect their interests".

"Not only in relation to the population, even the institutions of State bodies and, therefore, requests from these entities, whether collective or individual, have considerably increased, for us to work, to restore the legality of the cases", he stressed.

With this considerable increase in requests, continued the Attorney General of the Republic, "the number as well as the means are never sufficient".

According to Hélder Pitta Grós, for the new year the PGR wants to give another dynamism to its various bodies and with the entry of new members it will intensify, for example, "the inspection service, make them stronger, with trained magistrates and with a suitable profile for an inspector".

"At the level of the Courts of Appeal, we will also have more magistrates to respond more quickly to the various appeal processes and at the level of some provinces, we felt that there were difficulties in streamlining the work they do and making a greater contribution", he highlighted.
