The announcement was made by the National Bank of Angola (BNA), which explains that the measure is expressed in the second phase of the Real Time Payment System (SPTR) 24/7, in force since January 13th.

"On January 13, 2024, the second phase of the project went into production, which allowed beneficiaries of transfers made on Friday and Saturday mornings, via branches and remote channels (mobile and internet banking) of banks, will now have the respective values reflected in their bank accounts on Saturday", reads a statement from the BNA, to which VerAngola had access.

In the note, the central bank clarifies that in October 2022, "the first phase of the Real Time Payment System (SPTR) 24/7 went into production, which allowed beneficiaries of transfer and payment operations carried out using a credit card to Multicaixa debit, the amounts relating to those operations will now be reflected on the immediately following day, in their bank accounts".

According to the BNA, the "modernization" of the Angolan Payment System, stimulated by the "dynamics of new payment services", has taken on increasing relevance in the daily lives of people and economic agents, through the "availability of innovative financial products and services".

In this sense, the BNA carried out a "set of actions, in coordination with the Interbank Services Company (EMIS) and commercial banks", aiming to "increase the credibility, effectiveness and convenience of payments, with emphasis on the provision of funds in the beneficiaries' accounts on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays", the note also states.
