A key element of this alliance's agenda is to identify ways for trade policies to support the most vulnerable developing countries and the least developed countries that face the greatest risks from climate change.

The four co-leaders of the alliance are Ecuador, the EU, Kenya and New Zealand.

The forum also includes the participation of Angola, Australia, Barbados, Cape Verde, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Iceland, Gambia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Maldives, Mozambique, Norway, Philippines, Rwanda, Zambia, Singapore, Switzerland, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States and Vanuatu.

The climate alliance was officially launched at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, exactly one year ago, and the first ministerial meeting is scheduled for early 2024, on the sidelines of the next Ministerial Conference of the World Climate Organization.
