Economy Minister encourages ZEE to increase exports and attract investors

The Minister of Economy and Planning, Mário Caetano João, encouraged the Special Economic Zone (ZEE) to increase exports of products from factories inserted in that zone, as well as suggested the elaboration of programs to attract more agricultural investments in the ZEE.

The recommendations and incentives were made this Wednesday, within the scope of a visit by the minister to the Luanda-Bengo ZEE to present the new officials of the entity, namely the new chairman of the Board of Directors (PCA), Manuel Pedro, and the new administrator executive, Adriano Celso Borja.

According to a note from the Ministry of Economy and Planning, to which VerAngola had access, the holder of the Economy and Planning portfolio, in statements to members of the Boards of Directors and Board of Directors, indicated that "it has the full participation of the new leaders, in order to guarantee the continuity of the great work that has been carried out in the ZEE, for the continuous growth of the Angolan economy".

In addition, the minister also asked for special attention to agricultural factories, since "the guarantee of food security in the country is one of the great challenges" of the Government for the coming years.

On the occasion, Mário Caetano also left the suggestion of drawing up programs to attract more investments for the agricultural sector in the ZEE.

"The new management of the Luanda-Bengo Space Economic Zone must work towards boosting agriculture", highlighted the minister who, quoted by Angop, added that all those who invest in the agricultural field in the special zone will benefit from the tools and financial products made available by Banco Desenvolvimento de Angola.

Cited by Angop, he also took the opportunity to underline the relevance of proceeding with the expansion of the ZEE and reviving stalled companies through new investors, as well as the fact that it is necessary to boost the Investor Support Office in order to provide more support to investors when betting on the ZEE.

The increase in exports of products from the ZEE factories was also defended by the minister, who, quoted by Jornal de Angola, asked the units to take advantage of the fact that the country is in the Free Trade Area of the Southern African Development Community (SADC ) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS).

Among the recommendations made by the official is also the strengthening of cooperation with the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency of Angola (AIPEX).

"We have to continue to expand, enable and facilitate entrepreneurs to make the Special Economic Zone the main destination for developing their businesses and new investments," he added, quoted by Jornal de Angola.

The new PCA of the ZEE, on the other hand, assumed the commitment to carry out activities with a view to attracting more investors, as well as helping to increase production and job creation. Furthermore, according to Angop, Manuel Pedro also made it known that there will be an analysis to get to know the areas that require more attention, also committing himself to cooperate with AIPEX and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to attract investments.
